Hi Anne, thank you for the very inspiring talk. Your finding that much of the cortical neuronal activities are correlated with uninstructed movements are quite interesting. Further finding task-dependent uninstructed activities was impressive. It reminds me of the work from Nadine Gogolla's lab that appeared in Science this year. They analyzed the face of mice and found there is facial expression, a part of which appears to be expression of emotion. I wonder whether what you saw is related to emotional aspects. For example would it be plausible to change the reward size or even give aversive outcome to the mice to see the change in the task-related uninstructed activities?
