Development of novel artificial intelligence using ECoG big data

A01Development of novel artificial intelligence using ECoG big data

It has been unveiled that human behavior, thought contents, cognitive content can be accurately estimated by decoding techniques using the electrodes implanted in human brain. Using this decoding technique in online, some patients with severe motor disabilities able to control some machines by thinking to move their paralyzed bodies. This technology is called Brain-Machine Interface. Moreover, understanding of the information process in the brain has contributed to develop the artificial intelligence (AI). However, in the previous studies using the intracranial electrodes, the amount of data was limited for some small data sets. In this study, I will record a big data of the intracranial signals and apply it to train a deep neural network. This project aim to decode various human activities with improved accuracy and to apply the knowledge for the development of new AI technology.
